Penny Lane

Penny Lane is a member of the Human Potential Consultants Inc. (HCPI) team and a faculty member of Canadian Management Centre. She lives in Kelowna, British Columbia (Western Canada).

She has a passion for creating work environments in which people are encouraged to grow, develop, and bring the best that they have to offer their organizations and their communities.

She brings to her work over two decades of high performance management and leadership experience.

She is respected for her ability to value and engage people in the process of planning for change, for finding creative solutions and processes and for creating viable systems and structures to support the sustainability of new organizational models.

Penny has been working as a management/leadership consultant, coach, facilitator, strategy developer and project manager. She has supported hundreds of supervisors, managers and executives at all levels.

Penny has developed and delivered numerous training/coaching sessions in the fields of:

  • Team building and team work;
  • Coaching and counseling;
  • Project management;
  • Leadership and management;
  • Strategic planning;
  • Developing Strategy and Tactics;
  • Change management;
  • Facilitation; etc.

Prior to her work as a facilitator and consultant, Penny successfully led two large system changes. She assumed the position of Chief Operating Officer responsible for the Health Services portfolio (1100 FTE’s and $80m budget). Penny planned and led the integration of four program streams and developed formal partnerships with numerous stakeholders.

AREAS OF EXPERTISE

Leadership
Working with supervisors, managers, executives and project sponsors to clarify the purpose of initiative(s) and bring together and develop the team that will be working to achieve the defined outcomes as well as supporting the client in applying sound leadership principles.

Facilitation
Planning and delivering working sessions to bring both a system and process approach to groups engaged in sharing, learning, planning and problem-solving.

Developing Strategy and Tactics
Bringing creative process skills and applying process and change knowledge to help formulate the steps for moving forward on strategic and tactical initiatives.

Project Management
Using proven project management approaches that apply system thinking, change management, and continuous improvement principles through out the term of the project. Working with the Project Sponsors to develop project charters, organize the structures and processes required to support the work, mange the work plan to ensure deliverables are met, and concluding with and evaluation to collect learnings for future projects.

Mentoring and Coaching
Providing support to individuals in formal and informal leadership roles to improve effectiveness through one on one mentoring and coaching.

EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Penny holds a Bachelor degree of Science, Microbiology, University of Alberta and a Masters of Health Services Administration degree from the University of Alberta.

She has completed a 12-week blended certificate in Evidence-Based Coaching from Fielding Graduate University in California and received her Certified Management Consultant designation.
